Where to Place Stop Loss - Smart Money Strategy That Actually Works
Where I Place My Red Safety Rope So I Don't Get Hunted: Wrong, Correct, Smart Way
95% of retail traders place red safety rope in wrong place. Then they say market hunted me. Truth is they placed red rope exactly where every other beginner placed it, and big players ate that pile. If you want to stop getting kicked out before trade goes your way, you need to learn where to place red safety rope like big players do. On my floor I learned 3 ways: WRONG, CORRECT, SMART.
Why Your Red Rope Always Gets Hit?
Big players need pile to fill big position. Where pile comes from? It comes from retail red ropes. Above every ceiling rope there is buy pile - pile of red exit ropes from sellers. Below every floor rope there is sell pile - pile of red exit ropes from buyers. When you place red rope just 5 pips above ceiling you are placing it inside buy pile. Banks need that pile so they push price to grab it, hit your red rope, then reverse. On my floor I show this with thin black thread that spikes 15 pips beyond black ceiling rope and comes back down. That spike is pile grab.
❌ WRONG Way: Red Rope Too Tight Inside Range
WRONG way is placing red safety rope 5 pips above ceiling or 5 pips below floor, inside range. I lay black ceiling rope at 1.0820 and red safety rope at 1.0825 only 5 pips above. That red rope sits inside buy pile. Thin black thread spikes to 1.0840, grabs pile, hits my red rope at 1.0825, then falls back to 1.0810. I get kicked out, then price goes up without me. Reason: red rope inside pile. I write WRONG - INSIDE PILE - WILL BE HUNTED with red marker and X. I did this 50 times on Gold 15m. Tight red looks safe because loss small but actually most dangerous because hunt probability 80%.
✅ CORRECT Way: Red Rope Beyond Ceiling/Floor With 15 Pips Cushion
CORRECT way is to place red safety rope BEYOND recent ceiling rope or floor rope, outside pile zone, not 5 pips beyond but 15-20 pips beyond with cushion. Example if you sell after ceiling forms at 1.0820, do not place red rope just above ceiling at 1.0825. Place it 15-20 pips above wick of ceiling at 1.0840 beyond pile zone. This is safe rope. Even if there is pile grab spike to 1.0835 your red at 1.0840 safe. Same for buying. If you buy from floor at 1.0720, place red rope 15-20 pips BELOW floor at 1.0700, not 2 pips below at 1.0718. This method reduces win rate slightly because red wider but massively increases survival rate. You get kicked out less. On my floor I measure black ceiling rope at 1.0820, wick top at 1.0830, then I lay red rope at 1.0845 with ruler 15 pips beyond wick. I write CORRECT - SAFE ROPE - OUTSIDE PILE with green marker.
🎯 SMART Way: Red Rope Beyond Pile Grab Zone After Sweep
This is how pros do it. Instead of placing red rope before pile grab, you WAIT for pile grab to happen, then you place red rope BELOW grab zone. Step 1 - Identify clear floor rope where sell pile resting. Example floor at 1.0720, tiny black threads below at 1.0710 show sell pile. Step 2 - Wait for price to sweep below that floor, grab pile, and create long lower thin thread. Example price dives to 1.0705 with long lower thread 15 pips below floor. Step 3 - After grab, wait for price to come back above floor at 1.0720 and show bullish green structure. Step 4 - Enter AFTER grab. Place red safety rope BELOW grab zone, inside pile grab pool. Example enter at 1.0725 after green close, red rope at 1.0690 below grab zone 1.0705. Why smart? Because after big players grabbed pile, they don't need to go back there again. Pile already taken. So grab zone becomes safest place to put red rope. Your red rope now protected by big players own grab.
Red Rope Rules For Every Trading Style
1. Scalpers 1m-5m: If you scalp low timeframe you need tighter red but you will get hunted more by noise. Solution: use higher timeframe ceiling/floor for red rope. Example scalp on 5m but use 1H ceiling/floor for red rope. This gives cushion against noise. Risk only 1% per scalp because red wider.
2. Intraday 15m-1H: Place red beyond 15m or 1H ceiling/floor. After London open 8am many hunts happen first 30 mins. Wait first 30 mins to complete, identify pile sweep with long thread, then place red beyond sweep. Combine with daily bias.
3. Swing 4H-Daily: Use daily ceiling/floor and give 50-80 pips cushion beyond pile. Red very safe, but lot size must be smaller to keep 1% risk. This is most professional way.
Risk To Reward And Red Rope - The Math
Many beginners use fixed 20 pips red for every trade. Completely wrong. Red should be based on floor structure not fixed number. Once you place red based on structure beyond pile, then you calculate green target to be at least 2x red distance. If red is 30 pips beyond pile, green target at least 60 pips. This is how you get 1:2, 1:3, 1:4 reward. SMART placement actually gives BETTER reward because you enter after grab so entry closer to bottom while red protected below grab zone. Example: Retail shorts at top 1.0820 red 1.0830 hunted to 1.0840. Smart waits pile grab below floor 1.0720 to 1.0705, buys after grab at 1.0725 red 1.0690 35 pips, target at 1.0820 ceiling 95 pips = 1:2.7 reward while retail stopped out.
Psychology Of Red Rope - Why Traders Don't Use It
Biggest reason traders blow accounts is not using red rope at all. Why? Because they can't accept being wrong. They think if I don't place red price will come back. Sometimes it does, one time it doesn't and account gone. Professional mindset: I am wrong 40% time and that's okay. Red rope is my protection. I pay small insurance premium 1% loss to protect floor from 100% loss. Never move red rope further away when trade goes against you. This is called red extension and it is account suicide. If you placed it correctly beyond pile you don't need to move it. If it hits it hits. Take 1% loss and move to next setup.
5-Step Checklist Before You Place Any Red Rope
1. Have I identified buy pile above ceiling and sell pile below floor? 2. Is my red beyond pile not inside it? At least 15 pips cushion beyond wick? 3. Is my red beyond recent pile grab zone if there was sweep with long thread? 4. Does my red give me at least 1:2 reward? 5. If red hits will I lose only 1% of floor? If answer NO to any of these do not take trade.
Conclusion - Hunting Stops When You Stop Placing Red Like Beginner
Market not hunting you personally. It is hunting pile. If you place red inside pile pool you will be hunted. If you place it beyond pile or better beyond pile grab zone after sweep you become hunter not hunted. Remember: WRONG = Inside range tight red gets hunted 80%. CORRECT = Beyond ceiling/floor safe red with 15 pips cushion. SMART = Beyond pile grab zone entry after grab red below grab protected by big players. Master this one skill and your results change forever. Combine with 1% safety rule from last article and you have professional safety system.
